This week we are delighted to have Mark O’Sullivan, a NSW CEO high school teacher.
Please tell us a little about yourself. What is your current role and what does it involve?
I’m an English Teacher at a Sydney systemic Catholic girls’ school. I also have a role assisting with the e-learning needs of the staff at the school.
What do you plan to talk about on Edutweetoz this week?
The nature of learning using e-learning tools, philosophies of education, whatever attracts my attention.
Who are your teaching role models and why?
Paulo Freire’s keywords method is one – also, I had an outstanding, dry English teacher at school who made me realise teaching can be rewarding and fun.
What issues do you think are most pressing for teachers today?
How to understand students in the age of modern technology and social networking and then use the tools to the advantage of teaching.
What are your hopes for education in the next 10 years?
That we can teach true collaboration and critical thinking.
