Audrey Nay – Teacher Librarian and Learning Technologies Manager

This week, Audrey Nay takes over the reigns of EduTweetOz. I’m looking forward to hearing her perspective as an inspirational teacher librarian, working in the heart of her school.

Here are her answers to our five questions:

Please tell us a little about yourself. What is your current role and what does it involve?

I am currently a NSW TL & Learning Technologies Manager. I am providing release from face to face for each class teacher in our school & have just commenced the Computer coordinator role, which provides an opportunity to introduce inquiry learning for our students in both the library & the computer centre. I am also coordinating the iPad trials in each learning stage at our school.

What do you plan to talk about on Edutweetoz this week?

This week I will be talking about the resourcing of teachers, in particular in the inquiry area of the Australian curriculum. I would love to discuss the range and effectiveness of current digital resources and their affordability & availability for teachers.

Who are your teaching role models and why?

There are so many I admire in so many areas that it is impossible to name them all! Joyce Valenza @joycevalenza, Gwyneth Jones @gwynethjones @stuhasic @johnqgoh @joachimcohen123 @pipcleaves @jonesytheteacher @judithway @kbonnano @AlindaS @BiblioKat @ColbySharp @iPadWells @KathyShrock …….. They are all inspirational & believe in the power of education-of life-long learning. They are great sharers of their ideas & learnings. The world is a much better place because of them & kind, caring, enthusiastic tweeple like them.

What issues do you think are most pressing for teachers today?

Quality learning in such a “fast moving” world.
Creating a successful learning environment for students in so many vital areas.
Access to quality teaching resources for their students and themselves.
Keeping up with fast moving learning technologies

What are your hopes for education in the next 10 years?

That all educators understand the skills & opportunities available to them from their Teacher Librarian & that all admins help facilitate the collaboration of class/ faculties & TLs especially in regards to inquiry based learning in the new Australian curriculum. Plenty of quality learning opportunities for teachers in areas that they need to grow in.
Plenty of quality discussions & sharing of strategies amongst educators & admins that work to create lifelong learners of our students & their teachers.
Meaningful changes to learning spaces/ environments.
