Five questions for Alice Leung – This weeks EduTweetOz Host

We’re very excited to be welcoming Alice Leung to the EduTweetOz account.

Here are her answers to our five questions.


Please tell us a little about yourself. What is your current role and what does it involve?

Head teacher science at Merrylands High School. Role involves leading science teachers in delivering an engaging science curriculum to students and leading technology across the whole school.

What do you plan to talk about on Edutweetoz this week?

Science and technology. I am currently working on SOLO, project based learning, science community partnerships and practitioner research

Who are your teaching role models and why?

My science teacher at high school who also became my prac supervisor and my head teacher later on. She inspired me to become a teacher and showed me how to be a good teacher. She is so passionate and such a great leader.

What issues do you think are most pressing for teachers today?

Status of teaching in society and public trust, which are often fuelled negatively by politicians

What are your hopes for education in the next 10 years?

That education is about education, not passing NAPLAN or beating Finland or South Korea.
